Advertising is becoming increasingly popular in the US tech industry. Some major streaming providers such as Disney, Netflix and Amazon are now flirting with this additional source of income. Now Apple is apparently also looking to tap into this potential, according to media reports.
According to the report, the company is currently looking for experts in the field of advertising. According to the online portal “Digiday,” Apple has published various job ads and wants to use them to land managers for the advertising business.
Apple apparently wants to flood iPhone and App Store with advertising
According to the news agency Bloomberg, Apple is indeed planning an offensive in the advertising sector. Accordingly, the apple company wants to place numerous additional advertisements on its iPhones, for example. The company already displays advertising content in the App Store, for example. Now other functions of the iPhone are to be served with more ads. These include podcasts and e-books.
Incidentally, there is also speculation as to whether the Group’s streaming service, “Apple TV+,” could also get advertising placements in the future. Apple could offer a significantly reduced-price advertising version of its streaming service.
Experts see high business potential
The advertising offensive could certainly be worthwhile for the company. Apple currently makes around $4 billion a year from this business. In the future, revenues here could rise to a double-digit billion amount, according to the “Bloomberg” report.
